polyimide
Polyimide washers
Polyimide washers carry axial load, take wear, space parts, or insulate at temperatures where many polymers lose shape. Dominion machines thrust, shoulder, spacer, and custom washers in graphite-filled and unfilled polyimide.
Washer jobs we machine
Not every washer is a shim. Polyimide washers are specified for axial loads, rotating interfaces, oscillating mechanisms, high-temperature assemblies, insulation, spacing, and alignment.
- Thrust washers
- Insulating washers
- Spacer washers
- Shoulder and stepped washers
- Custom profiles from drawing
Thickness and flatness
A washer only works if it is flat, parallel, and the right thickness after thermal growth. We machine to the drawing, including tight thickness and OD/ID control when the stack-up requires it.
Questions engineers ask
Short answers
What is a polyimide thrust washer used for?
It takes axial load between rotating or oscillating parts and provides a low-friction wear face. Graphite-filled grades are common when the washer must run dry.
Can polyimide washers also insulate electrically?
Unfilled polyimide is the usual choice when electrical insulation matters as much as wear. Confirm the grade against the voltage and temperature of the assembly.
