polyimide
High-temperature bushings
High-temperature bushings are specified when the joint stays hot enough to soften common plastics. Dominion machines polyimide grades for polymer-range heat and aerospace alloys when the duty exceeds that range.
Temperature is not the only number
Peak temperature without load, speed, and lubrication is not enough to choose a material. A hot, dry, oscillating pin is a different problem from a hot, oil-fed, high-PV journal.
Questions engineers ask
Short answers
How hot can polyimide bushings run?
It depends on grade, load, and whether the temperature is continuous or intermittent. DuPont identifies Vespel® applications exceeding 315°C / 600°F for certain grades and applications. Send continuous and peak numbers with the drawing.
