polyimide
Unfilled polyimide bushings
Unfilled polyimide bushings combine electrical insulation with high-temperature strength and dimensional stability. Specify them when the bushing must isolate current as well as locate a shaft or pin.
Insulation and heat in one part
Many polymers that insulate cannot hold a bore at elevated temperature. Unfilled polyimide is used when both jobs land on the same component.
- Excellent electrical insulation
- High-temperature performance
- Wear resistance and low friction
- Excellent machinability for precision features
Questions engineers ask
Short answers
Why is unfilled polyimide amber?
The unfilled resin is naturally amber to brown. Graphite filler turns the part dark gray or black. Color is a useful receiving check, not a specification by itself.
Is this comparable to Vespel® SP-1?
DuPont identifies Vespel® SP-1 as an unfilled polyimide with strong mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties. Send the grade on your drawing and we will recommend an appropriate unfilled option.
